Robin Weigert

Her father, Wolfgang Oscar Weigert, was a psychiatrist who emigrated from Berlin, Germany, and her mother was Dionne Laufman. She graduated from Brandeis University in 1991, a secular institution named after the first Jewish Supreme Court Justice, and later trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

After starting as a theatrical actress in New York City, she moved to Los Angeles for better opportunities. Her television career began with cameo roles in films like 'Mary and Rhoda' (2000) and guest spots on police procedurals such as 'Law & Order' and 'CS' before landing a recurring role as Detective Anna Mayes on 'Cold Case'.

Weigert's breakthrough came with 'Deadwood' (2004-2006), where she played Calamity Jane. The role earned her an Emmy nomination.
