Biography
About Richa Moorjani
Richa Moorjani is an Indian-American actress with a career spanning television, voice acting, and independent film. She was born on Friday, May 26, 1989, in California, United States, and holds dual Indian and American nationality. Her ethnicity is Asian. Moorjani stands 5'5" tall with an average body type, and she has brown hair and brown eyes. Her measurements are 37–28–40 (B–W–H) with a 0.70 waist-to-hip ratio and a B-cup bra size. She is straight and identifies as a woman. She has a substantial social media following, with 1.0 million Instagram followers.
Moorjani's early career included guest roles on television shows such as The Mindy Project, directed by Mindy Kaling, as well as NCIS: Los Angeles and 9-1-1. She also lent her voice to the 2018 video game Fallout 76, developed by Bethesda Game Studios. Her breakout role came with the Netflix series Never Have I Ever, also co-written by Kaling, where she played Kamala Nandiawada, a biology PhD student at Caltech and the cousin of the main character, Devi. Moorjani auditioned through an open casting call, and the role let her explore the experiences of women of color in STEM. Speaking to The Hindu, she said, "I learned about how much women of colour in STEM go through. It's a real systemic problem where their names are taken off research papers. Granted we see what Kamala goes through in the lab via a comedic lens, but I was keen to show this storyline."
Moorjani also appeared as Indira Olmstead in the fifth season of the American crime drama Fargo. Her next project, Broken Drawer, directed by Rippin Sindher, was in post-production as of late 2021. The film is loosely inspired by true events and follows a young Sikh mother who was killed while working at her family-owned convenience store in rural California. Moorjani told The Hindu that Sindher called her and said the role was special because it was based on her mother, and she couldn't see anyone else playing it. Moorjani described the experience as "such a lovely and fulfilling experience."
