She is perhaps most recognizable for her portrayal of Bridget Jones in the romantic comedy film series. Her professional journey began in 1992, and over the past three decades she has become one of Hollywood's most accomplished performers, evidenced by her accolades including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. She is an American of Caucasian ethnicity, born on Friday, 25th April 1969, in Katy, Texas. She studied English literature at the University of Texas at Austin. Zellweger's early roles included minor appearances in 'Dazed and Confused' (1993) and 'Reality Bites' (1994), before her first starring role in 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' (1994). She gained wide recognition for her performances in 'Jerry Maguire' (1996), 'One True Thing' (1998), and 'Nurse Betty' (2000), the last earning her a Golden Globe. Her portrayals of Bridget Jones in 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001) and Roxie Hart in 'Chicago' (2002) led to consecutive Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. In 2003, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Cold Mountain'.
Following a brief hiatus from acting, Zellweger returned to the role of Bridget Jones in 'Bridget Jones's Baby' (2016). In 2019, she played Judy Garland in the biopic 'Judy', for which she won her second Academy Award, and also starred in the Netflix series 'What/If'. More recently, she took on the role of Pam Hupp in the NBC miniseries 'The Thing About Pam' (2022). She remains a prominent figure in American cinema. She continues to work across film and television.
