Rachel Skarsten

Raised in Toronto, Rachel trained with the Royal Academy of Dance for twelve years, earning her Elementary Level with distinction in 1999. An ankle injury cut her dance career short, so she pivoted to sports, playing competitive female hockey as a goalie for the Leaside Wildcats. In 2002, she won the Toronto City Championships in a shootout. Her acting debut included the role of Caroline Lofton in Virginia's Run (2002). At 16, she landed a major role as Dinah Lance/Black Canary in the WB series Birds of Prey (2002), after being discovered by producer Brian Robins. After the show ended, she moved home to focus on school. She graduated from Earl Haig Secondary School in the top 10% of her class and was named an Ontario Scholar. She then attended Queen's University, completing a double major in English Literature and Classical History. After graduation, she backpacked around Western Europe for four months and later returned to Los Angeles in spring 2008.

Her acting credits include arcs on Flashpoint, The Listener, and The LA Complex. She played Tamsin in Lost Girl (2010-2016), Andrea in Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), Queen Elizabeth I in Reign, appeared in Molly's Game (2017), and Poppy Langmore in Imposters (2018).
