Poonam Jhawer

Poonam began as a fashion model, working for brands like Killer Jeans, Dove soap, and Paneri sarees. She appeared on the cover of Debonair Magazine in 1995. Her Bollywood debut came with the super hit film Mohra, where she played Priya Agnohotri, the wife of Suniel Shetty's character. She was noticed during an ad shoot that led to the role. Her performance was appreciated as a key point in the story. She also worked in a few successful South Indian films and appeared in the music video "Chand Sa Mukhda" by Ali Haider.

In 2003, she turned producer with the film Aanch, which earned critical acclaim and did moderate business, especially in northern India. She also sang the song "Sun Meri Raani" for its soundtrack. Her role as Lata Thakur was a highlight. Later films include Deewana Hoon Main Tera and The Black and White Fact. She has also acted in a Marathi film titled Sansarch Maya, which is complete and awaiting release. An upcoming project, 2G Radia-Tion, based on the 2G Spectrum Scam, has her in the lead role of Niira Radia. She called it a role of a lifetime and noted that the makers felt her personality matched. Another film, Muthbhed A Planned Encounter, starring Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Sharma, was released recently.

Poonam has released 9 music videos and 3 music albums: "Poo4u", "Take Me Home Baby", and "Poo Kya Jalwa". Besides her work in film, she has supported the Jan Lokpal Bill and appeared alongside Anna Hazare during his hunger strike. She is currently involved with various women's groups and NGOs.
