Biography

About Peaches Geldof

Edited by the community

Peaches Geldof was a British reality TV star, columnist, and model, known for her appearances on MTV and her high-profile personal life. Born on 13 March 1989 in Westminster, London, she was the second daughter of musician and political activist Bob Geldof and television presenter Paula Yates. Her childhood was marked by her parents' divorce in 1996 and her mother's death from a heroin overdose in 2000, when Peaches was just 11.

She grew up in Chelsea and Faversham, and was educated at Queen's College in London. After finishing her A-Levels, she deferred a place at Queen Mary & Westfield College to move to New York City with her then-husband, musician Max Drummey. There, she worked as a writer for the UK edition of Elle Girl. In 2007, she made her catwalk debut for PPQ at London Fashion Week and was later named the face of the Australian label Dotti. Her MTV reality series, Peaches: Disappear Here, premiered in 2008 and followed her as she founded a youth-oriented magazine.

Peaches became the face of the Miss Ultimo collection in 2009, but was dropped in 2010 after nude photos and allegations of drug use surfaced; she denied the claims, calling the reports a "wildly exaggerated account of a night in Los Angeles." She married Max Drummey in Las Vegas on 5 August 2008, but they separated the following year and divorced in 2011. In 2012, she married Thomas Cohen, lead singer of the band S.C.U.M., at the same church in Kent where her parents had wed and where her mother's funeral was held. The couple had two sons, born in 2012 and 2013.

Peaches was open about her spiritual explorations, professing to be a Scientologist in 2009 and later expressing interest in Ordo Templi Orientis, which she described as "a belief system to apply to day-to-day life to attain peacefulness." She had the initials OTO tattooed on her left forearm. She died at her home on 7 April 2014; the inquest ruled her death a heroin overdose. She was 25 years old.
