Biography

About Patricia Paay

Edited by the community

Patricia Paay was just fifteen when she told her family, "I want to do what Aunt Telma does." Her aunt sang in her father's band, The Evergreens, and Patricia had been taking piano and ballet lessons since she was twelve. She made her debut with the band in 1965, but the labor inspectorate barred her from singing in clubs and cafes. Radio and television were allowed, and she made her television debut in 1966. On the very first broadcast night of the TROS, she had her own 20-minute special, "Patricia Sings." That early start led to a career spanning decades. Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in 1949, Patricia is a Dutch singer with a slim build and natural 34C bust. Now 77, she remains active in music, still performing after more than sixty years.
