The Academy Award-winning actress and activist was born on April 8, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, and is American. She began acting in 1986, landing notable roles in the late 1980s, including the cult favorite A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Her breakthrough came in 1991 with a CableACE Award for Wildflower, and she gained wider recognition in Tony Scott's True Romance in 1993. She went on to appear in critically acclaimed films such as Ed Wood, Lost Highway, Stigmata, Bringing Out the Dead, Human Nature, and Holes.
Arquette transitioned to television in 2005 with the lead role in NBC's Medium, playing Allison DuBois. The performance earned her an Emmy Award in 2005 and multiple Golden Globe and SAG nominations.
