About Parker Valby
Parker Valby is a professional American runner. She competes for New Balance, primarily in track and field and cross-country events. She is a six-time NCAA champion and holds the NCAA record for both the outdoor 5000 m and 10,000 m. She represented the United States in the 10,000 m at the Paris Olympics, finishing 11th.
Born in Pennsylvania and raised in East Lake, Florida, Valby graduated from East Lake High School. She was a competitive swimmer before first running cross-country in 2016. She was initially reluctant to try track and field, as it meant giving up lacrosse. She became a Florida state champion and the all-time state record holder while still a junior, but she couldn't compete in her senior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Valby competed for the University of Florida. As a sophomore, she finished runner-up in the 5000 m at the NCAA Track and Field Championships with a personal best of 15:20.10. That performance helped Florida win the team title. The following fall, she was again runner-up, this time in the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In the spring of 2023, she won the 5000 m at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, helping Florida finish as team runner-ups.
Her redshirt junior season began with a win at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational over rival Katelyn Tuohy. In November 2023, she won the NCAA Cross Country Championship with a time of 18:55.2 for 6 km, a new NCAA record. On December 2, 2023, she set an NCAA record for the indoor 5000 m at Boston University, running 14:56.11. In June 2023, she signed with Nike, becoming the first female college track and field athlete with a name, image, and likeness deal with the company.
