Padma Lakshmi

Lakshmi's career took off as a model, and she has described herself as the first well-known model from India. She later transitioned into television hosting, becoming the host of the reality series Top Chef since season 2. She is also a writer and has appeared in Sports Illustrated Babes. Her listed_in category reflects her association with that publication, and her work includes solo nudity in her performances.

Lakshmi's personal history is marked by resilience. At age 14, she survived a serious car accident that left a 7-inch scar on her right arm and required surgery. The accident, which occurred on a Sunday afternoon in Malibu, involved her family's red Mercury Sedan flying 40 feet down an embankment into a tree. She remained conscious for 40 minutes while paramedics extracted the family using the jaws of life. Everyone survived, though she sustained a fractured right hip and a shattered upper right arm.

She graduated from Clark University in 1992 with honors in theatre arts. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she later came to terms with her father's role in her career. She has a half-brother and a half-sister from her father's later marriage. In 2024, Lakshmi revealed that her figure changed during perimenopause, noting her bra size increased from 34C to 36DD.
