About Moriah Pereira
Moriah Pereira, born January 1, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American musician and influencer who performs as Poppy. She launched her career in 2011 at age 16, but it was her viral YouTube performance art in 2014 that made her a household name. In those videos, she played an android-like character that satirized internet culture, earning her the description of 'uncanny valley-like.' She signed with Island Records in 2015 and released her debut EP, Bubblebath, the following year.
Poppy's sound has evolved dramatically over time. After moving to Mad Decent, she released Poppy.Computer in 2017, a blend of art pop and bubblegum pop, and later that year she embarked on the Poppy.Computer Tour. Her second album, Am I a Girl? (2018), split in style, with a second half that showed a heavy nu metal influence. By 2020, she had signed to Sumerian Records and released I Disagree, which incorporated heavy metal and industrial rock, and whose music videos were described by critics as 'increasingly disturbing,' 'violent,' and 'macabre.' A shift that had begun with her previous album.
In 2021, Poppy's song 'Bloodmoney' received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. That same year, she continued her collaboration with WWE NXT by releasing the Eat (NXT Soundtrack) EP, and just three months later, her fourth studio album, Flux, came out to critical acclaim, featuring a less harsh and more stripped-down sound than its predecessors. At 31, she stands 5'5" with a slim build and natural 34C breasts, and she has amassed 1.6 million Instagram followers. She is 5'5" tall.
