Moon Zappa

Standing at 5'4" with slim body type and grey eyes, Moon Zappa is an American actress, singer, and writer. Born in New York City on September 28, 1967, she is the eldest child of legendary musician Frank Zappa and his wife Gail. Raised in a Laurel Canyon household surrounded by the rock scene of the 1970s, her upbringing was anything but conventional. She began her career in 1982 at age 14, when her spoken-word vocals on her father's hit song "Valley Girl" became a surprise Top 40 success and defined a cultural stereotype of 1980s Southern California youth.

Moon went on to appear in films such as National Lampoon's European Vacation and worked as an MTV VJ. She pursued acting roles and explored writing and other creative pursuits. With brown hair and a petite frame, she has remained active in entertainment for over four decades. In 2024, she published her candid memoir Earth to Moon, reflecting on her complex childhood, family dynamics, the impact of fame, and her personal growth after losing both parents. Now often going by Moon Zappa, she continues to work as a writer, podcaster, and entrepreneur, navigating life as a celebrity child turned independent artist.
