About Monika Deol
Monika Deol is a Vancouver, BC-based television personality, but her journey began in Jalandhar, Punjab, India, where she was born in 1965. Deol's media career started in the early 1980s as a club DJ and VJ at the Fort Garry Hotel night club while attending the University of Winnipeg. Her television work took off in Toronto, first as an entertainment reporter for Citytv, then as an anchor for MuchMusic's national news shows FAX and RapidFAX. From 1988 to 1996, she balanced multiple roles simultaneously: entertainment anchor on CityPulse at Six, co-host of FAX and RapidFAX, co-host of Citytv's fashion and style show Ooh La La, and host and co-producer of Electric Circus.
Deol holds a notable place in Canadian broadcasting history as the first news anchor with the inaugural VTV Vancouver News at 6, now known as CTV Vancouver.
