Monika Dannemann

Monika Dannemann was a German figure skater and painter. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1945, she competed in national figure skating events in the late 1950s and early 1960s, representing West Germany. Her life took a dramatic turn when she met Jimi Hendrix in January 1969 in Düsseldorf, beginning a relationship that lasted until his death in 1970. She was the last person to see Hendrix alive and took some of the last known photos of him.

Dannemann later wrote a book, The Inner World of Jimi Hendrix, published in 1995, which combined her personal memories with her oil paintings inspired by his music. She became an active advocate for his legacy through interviews and writings, though her accounts sometimes sparked debate among fans and biographers. She reportedly married German guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Tragically, she died by suicide on April 5, 1996, in Seaford, East Sussex, England. Her life remains intertwined with the story of one of rock's most iconic figures.
