Monic Karungi

Monic Karungi was a Ugandan model and blogger who traveled to Dubai seeking visibility and opportunities. She was recruited to participate in private hardcore parties with ultra-rich local men called Porta Potty. As a consequence of her experiences there, she committed suicide by jumping from the building where she was staying. She was 23 years old. Born in Lusaka, Zambia, on 14th July 1998, she later became a content creator. Her death revived concerns that had been raised a year earlier when her compatriot Kayla_Birungi died in almost identical circumstances in Dubai. Monic's story highlights the dangers that some young women face when pursuing careers abroad. Her life and tragic end have sparked discussions about the pressures on aspiring models.
