About Misty Rowe
American actress Misty Rowe was born Misty Rose Thornton on June 1, 1952, in Glendora, California. She is best known for playing the perky lisping blonde on the television series Hee Haw for 19 years, often as Junior Samples' assistant during used car comedy segments. With other "honeys" on the show, she wore cleavage-inducing halter tops, tight shorts, and country-style minidresses. In 1978, she starred in the Hee Haw spin-off Hee Haw Honeys, alongside then-newcomer Kathie Lee Gifford, playing the singing daughters of country music nightclub owners portrayed by Lulu Roman and Kenny Price. Rowe later appeared in a national road show version called Hee Haw Honey Reunion.
Rowe's television career includes playing carhop Wendy in early episodes of Happy Days, Maid Marian in the Mel Brooks-produced When Things Were Rotten (1975), and guest spots on Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Airwolf in the 1980s. On film, she twice portrayed Marilyn Monroe, in Goodbye, Norma Jean (1976) and Goodnight, Sweet Marilyn (1989). Her other film credits include The Hitchhikers (1972), Loose Shoes (1980), The Man with Bogart's Face (1980), National Lampoon's Class Reunion (1982), Meatballs Part II (1984), and the television movie SST: Death Flight (1977).
Rowe's stage work spans children's theater (Misty's Magic Moo Town), playing Patsy Cline in the off-Broadway musical Always...Patsy Cline, and the Atlantic City production Misty Christmas. In 2010, she appeared in her self-written off-Broadway musical Fandance: The Legend of Sally Rand. In 1976, she was a featured model in Playboy magazine. She is also remembered as a Playboy Model, a role that contributed to her public image.
Rowe was formerly married to One Life to Live star James DePaiva, with whom she has a daughter, Dreama, born in 1992. From 2001 to 2013, she was married to film editor and producer J.D. Ligier. Austin, Texas rock band Young Heart Attack wrote a song titled "Misty Rowe" in her honor, and songwriter Steven Hall once said she was "the first woman on television who made me feel different." At 74 years old, she stands 5'9" with an average build, blonde hair, and brown eyes.
