Biography
About Mia Farrow
Maria de Lourdes Villiers Farrow, known professionally as Mia Farrow, is an American actress and activist. Born in Los Angeles on February 9, 1945, she began acting at age 14 and has been active for over six decades. She first caught the public's eye as Allison MacKenzie in the soap opera Peyton Place, and her brief marriage to Frank Sinatra brought further attention. Her breakthrough came with Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby (1968), which earned her BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.
Through the 1970s, Farrow appeared in films like Follow Me! (1972), The Great Gatsby (1974), and Death on the Nile (1978). Her relationship with Woody Allen from 1980 to 1992 resulted in her starring in thirteen of his films, including A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy (1982). She received Golden Globe nominations for Broadway Danny Rose (1984), The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), and Alice (1990), and also acted in Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989). In 1992, she publicly accused Allen of abusing their adopted daughter, a claim that resurfaced in 2013. Allen denied the allegation and was never charged.
Since the 2000s, Farrow has done television work, including a recurring role on Third Watch, and appeared in films like The Omen (2006), Be Kind Rewind (2008), and Dark Horse (2011), plus the Netflix series The Watcher (2022). She is also a longtime UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, focusing on humanitarian issues in Darfur, Chad, and the Central African Republic. Time magazine named her one of the most influential people in the world in 2008.
