Merle Pertile was an American adult model and Playboy centerfold from the early 1960s. She was born in Whittier, California, in 1941, and she stood 5'5" with a slim build and natural 34D bust. Her red hair and blue eyes made her a memorable presence in her work.
During the second season of Playboy's Penthouse TV series (1960-61), Merle became a regular cast member. It was there that she first met Hugh Hefner. She was named Playboy's Playmate of the Month for January 1962. She died in 1997 at age 56, following complications from heart surgery.
