About Melodye Prentiss
Melodye Prentiss, born December 14, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, was a Playboy Playmate of the Month for July 1968. She was the first Playmate to show a slight glimpse of pubic hair on her centerfold, a milestone in the magazine's history. Her centerfold was photographed by Pompeo Posar.
Before becoming a Playmate, she worked in the Playboy editorial library, where she was discovered by the magazine. She studied fine art and painting at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Chicago. Melodye died on March 3, 2009, at age 64, after taking medications that made her unable to breathe, following knee surgery and other illnesses.
