About Mary Castle
Mary Castle was an American actress who worked in film and television during the late 1940s through the early 1960s. Born in Pampa, Texas, she began her career in 1948 at around age 18 and remained active for roughly 14 years. Her best-known role was as female detective Frankie Adams in the syndicated western series Stories of the Century, which aired from 1954 to 1955. She also played a cheerleader in The Music Man (1962).
Castle's personal life was marked by turbulence. In 1946, at age 15, she gave birth to a daughter, Judith, whose father was described as a "Navy man" stationed in Long Beach, California; she did not marry him. She married three times. In April 1957, she eloped to Las Vegas with aspiring actor William France Minchen. The marriage lasted a little more than two years, ending in divorce in September 1959. In September 1960, she married insurance broker Wayne Cote, but sought an annulment in August 1961; the couple divorced the following year. Her third marriage, on May 7, 1971, was to musician Erwin Angelo Frezza, and it ended in July 1972. Castle died on April 29, 1998, at age 67.
