About Marlene Morrow
Marlene Morrow is a former actress, adult model, and Playboy centerfold, best known as Playboy's Playmate of the Month for April 1974. She was born in Billings, Montana, and grew up in a family with notable American lineage, connected on her father's side to US presidents Washington, Monroe, and Madison. Her father played baseball in Japan's leagues, and the family spent several years living in Osaka. Marlene later moved to London, where she worked as a model and was discovered by Playboy magazine.
Her Playboy career brought her to Los Angeles, where she modeled for the magazine following her Playmate stint. She also appeared in a few film roles, including an uncredited bit part in 'My Fair Lady' and a small role as Miss Australia in the British comedy 'Percy's Progress.' The musician Todd Rundgren wrote the song 'Marlene' about her. However, her life took a difficult turn in the mid to late 1970s. She worked briefly as a saleswoman in a clothing store in Encino, California, but eventually became homeless. In 2006, photographer Paul Zollo discovered her living on the streets of Los Angeles, where she went by the name Persephone. Her story is one of early fame and later hardship.
