Marion Cotillard

Cotillard's career spans over three decades, beginning as a child actor in theatre and TV films. Her first English-language role came in 1993 on Highlander, and her breakthrough arrived with the French hit Taxi in 1998, earning her a César nomination. She made her Hollywood debut in Big Fish (2003) and won her first César for A Very Long Engagement (2004). Her portrayal of Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (2007) brought her the Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the first and only actor to win an Oscar for a French-language performance. She received a second Oscar nomination for Two Days, One Night (2014), and has starred in major films including Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Annette. Beyond film, she has played Joan of Arc on stage, narrated documentaries, and voiced animated features such as The Little Prince and the French version of Minions.

Cotillard has been a spokeswoman for Greenpeace since 2001, and she fronted the Lady Dior handbag for nine years before becoming the face of Chanel No. 5 fragrance in 2020. She was in a relationship with French actor Guillaume Canet from 2007 until their separation in 2025, announced jointly. The couple, who never married, have two children together. She was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2010, promoted to Officer in 2016, and named a Knight of the Legion of Honour that same year.
