Marie Henein

Canadian lawyer Marie Henein was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1966 to a Lebanese father and an Egyptian mother. Her grandmother was Palestinian. Her father, Joseph Henein, worked at a pharmacy. The family moved briefly to Vancouver, then to Lebanon for less than a year, and finally settled in Toronto when Marie was four years old. She grew up in Toronto and went on to study law at Osgoode Hall Law School, being called to the bar in 1992.

Marie is a partner at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP, a Toronto law firm. She is a civil litigator and criminal defence lawyer with extensive experience as lead counsel on high-profile criminal, civil, and regulatory cases. Her practice also includes acting for plaintiffs and defendants in class actions and major commercial disputes. She has argued at all levels of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. With over three decades in practice, she has built a reputation as one of the most prominent litigators in the country. She is of Middle Eastern ethnicity, with black hair and brown eyes.
