Biography

About Mara Corday

Edited by the community

Mara Corday was one of only two women chosen as Playmate of the Month for October 1958, alongside Pat Sheehan. That shared honor capped a decade as a sought-after pinup in men's magazines during the 1950s. She was American, born in Santa Monica, California, in 1930.

Corday moved easily between modeling and acting. Beginning in 1951, she worked for nearly four decades, with roles like a recurring part on the ABC series Combat Sergeant in 1956. From 1959 to early 1961, she concentrated on guest spots across television. Then she stepped away from the spotlight entirely.

Family became her priority. During her seventeen-year marriage to Richard Long, she had three children. She died in 2025 at 95. Her slim figure and natural red hair made her a memorable figure of her era.

Both ran in parallel: she modeled as a pinup through the 1950s while also appearing on television, including a recurring role in Combat Sergeant in 1956.
