Maki Hojo

Hojo's entry into the industry was serendipitous. She originally applied for a photoshoot modeling job found in a magazine, but upon learning the role involved adult content, she initially declined. However, she was eventually persuaded by a scout and her own curiosity about sexual expression. She made her debut in May 2006 at the age of 29 under the stage name Sayuri Shiraishi in the amateur-style video My First Married Woman, directed by Goro Tameike. During the early stages of her career, she occasionally used a younger stage age. Recognition followed quickly. AV reporter Kemuta Otsubo ranked her 6th among the top actresses of 2006, and she secured 5th place for the Best Actress Award at the MOODYZ Awards. As Sayuri Shiraishi, she starred in the critically acclaimed Stepmother Slave, which won the Best Mature Video award at the 2008 AV Grand Prix. During this period, she also became a staple for major studios like Madonna.

On April 15, 2009, she rebranded as Maki Hojo, releasing her first work under the new name, Temptation, Female Teacher, through Dream Ticket. After joining Oana Production, her productivity skyrocketed, appearing in approximately 100 titles within a single year. Her excellence in the genre was solidified in 2012 when she won Best Mature Actress at both the SkyPerfecTV! Adult Broadcasting Awards and the Tokyo Reporter's Porn Awards. She also earned the 18th spot in DMM's '100 Greatest AV Actresses of All Time' poll. In 2016, she went freelance, continuing her career with a more selective filming schedule. Now a veteran with over 1,300 appearances, she remains a 'long-selling' icon. Her versatility allows her to maintain popularity across diverse genres, ranging from 'married woman' themes to more intense, hardcore performances.
