Biography

About Mai Asakura

Edited by the community

Mai Asakura's striking combination of refined features and a petite, slim figure made her one of the defining AV idols of the early Heisei era. Born in Tokyo on November 8, 1972, she stood 5'2" tall with measurements of 34–24–35 and a natural C-cup. She debuted in 1992 at age 19, appearing under a Hōyūsha-affiliated label. Her motivation for entering the industry was candid: she wanted to repay a 5 million yen debt.

During her peak from 1992 to 1995, she starred in roughly 40 titles, becoming a key figure who helped sustain Hōyūsha through an industry recession. She pursued her career with her parents' blessing and appeared in mainstream media and gravure. Her on-screen work included solo nudity and boy-girl scenes.

After an initial retirement in 1995, she made a brief comeback in 1999 with "Revival" for Alice JAPAN. That year she released eight more videos and one V-cinema before retiring officially in September. She has stayed out of the industry since. She was active for seven years total. Her appeal blended innocence and sophistication, a combination rarely seen.
