About Lydia Ainsworth
Lydia Ainsworth is a Canadian musician whose work spans singing, composing, and producing. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she first gained international recognition with her 2015 debut album, Right from Real, which was nominated for a Juno Award for best electronic album and shortlisted for the Polaris Prize. Her 2017 follow-up, Darling of the Afterglow, an electro art pop record, took her on headlining tours of North America, Europe, and Japan, as well as support tours with Perfume Genius. In 2019, she self-released her third album, Phantom Forest, a dreamy collection of art and dance pop that she wrote and produced entirely herself. After its release, she created string remixes of several tracks, a move that highlighted her compositional range and talent for reinvention. One such composition, 'Diamonds Cutting Diamonds,' was licensed for a worldwide Apple iPhone campaign. That same year, her collaboration with Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, 'Earth Song,' appeared in the season 3 finale of Stranger Things. Beyond albums, she has composed original scores for films and commercials, some of which have screened at festivals including Sundance, Cannes, and Hot Docs. Her work consistently blends pop sensibilities with experimental textures, a quality that has earned her a dedicated following. She has a modest Instagram presence of about 3k followers. With each project, she continues to push the boundaries of her sound, earning respect across the music and film industries.
