Biography

About Lotte Tarp

Edited by the community

Standing 5'9" with a slim figure and natural D-cup breasts, Lotte Tarp cut an unusually tall, striking silhouette for a Danish actress of her era. Her auburn hair and blue eyes were part of a look that filmmakers leaned on heavily, often casting her as the delicious and voluptuous blonde. Born Ann-Charlotte Tarp on February 14, 1945 in Århus, Denmark, she was Danish by nationality and Caucasian by ethnicity.

Tarp made her acting debut at age 16 in the Danish feature film "Bocken i paradiset," despite having no formal acting training. Over a career spanning 37 years, from 1961 to 1998, she appeared in 34 feature films and television productions, working both on stage and on screen. In 1972, she won a Bodil Award from the Danish Film Critics Association for best actress in 'Farlige kys.' Her work also caught the attention of Salvador Dalí, who in 1965 invited her to his estate in Port Lligat for a photo series and later worshiped her as his muse, "Ginesta Ophelia."

In her later years, Tarp shifted focus to writing, producing books, plays, and screenplays, including the play Amagertorv 4 in the 1980s. From 1990 to 1992, she trained as a screenwriter at the Danish Film School, and her final thesis became the script for the television film Længe leve friheden (1993). She also wrote a book about her biological father, a German officer in occupied Denmark. Tarp gave birth to her son Jacob during her second marriage. She passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2002, at age 57. She was slim.
