Lorena transitioned into acting, starting with low-budget films and soap operas. She has been involved in more than fifty films since her career began. Her big break came when producer Emilio Larrosa cast her in the telenovela "Muchachitas," which became a huge hit across Latin America. She then appeared in "Dos mujeres, un camino," playing the mistress of a villain; although her role was relatively short, she caused a sensation and became a sex symbol in Mexico and Latin America. She has since acted in many other telenovelas, including "El premio mayor" and "Lola...Erase Una Vez," where she played the evil stepmother Monserrat.

Beyond acting, Lorena is also a musician, having released various Mexican music CDs and toured Mexico and the United States.
