About Lisca Malbran
German actress Lisca Malbran was born on October 17, 1925, in Germany. She was the daughter of actor, director, and film producer Hellmut Werner Hoffmann and his wife Elisabeth Paula, geb. Tolkmitt. Her father used the pseudonym Werner Malbran, inspired by a Huguenot ancestor, and Lisca adopted this family name for her own career.
She worked as an actress in four films shot during the Second World War. The last of these, Heidesommer, could not be completed. According to the memories of Kurt Wiemers, Malbran was still in Berlin shortly before the end of the war. However, information provided by Danish nurse Edda Mørkeberg indicates that she was in a Soviet internment camp in May 1945, where she used a passport to identify herself as a Danish citizen named Marlis Carmen Christensen. This allowed her to leave for Denmark a few months later after her release.
Lisca Malbran died in Copenhagen on June 6, 1946, at the age of 20. Her career as an actress spanned just three years, from 1943 to 1946.
