De Leeuw entered the adult industry in the late 1970s, reportedly influenced by a boyfriend who managed a theater screening X-rated movies. After moving to Los Angeles in 1978, she lost about 40 pounds and began modeling for men's magazines. She made her film debut in 1979 with '800 Fantasy Lane,' starting a ten-year career during the Golden Age of Porn. She worked with studios like Swedish Erotica and Vivid Video, being among the first to sign an exclusive contract.
