About Lindsey Jacobellis

Edited by the community

Lindsey Jacobellis is an American snowboarder, a sportswoman whose career has spanned nearly two decades. Born on Monday, August 19, 1985, in Danbury, Connecticut, she grew up in Roxbury, Connecticut. At 40 years old, she holds the title of the most decorated snowboard cross athlete of all time, with five World Championship victories and ten X Games gold medals.

Jacobellis made her Olympic debut at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, where she won a silver medal in snowboard cross. She then went without an Olympic medal for three consecutive Games, a drought that ended in dramatic fashion at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. There, she captured a gold medal in women's snowboard cross, and she added a second gold in the mixed team snowboard cross event alongside teammate Nick Baumgartner. That mixed team event was making its Olympic debut that year.

Beyond her Olympic and World Championship success, Jacobellis has competed in snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe as well. She earned a bronze medal in slopestyle at the Winter X Games back in 2003. Her competitive drive has also taken her off the snow; she appeared on the MTV charity special The Challenge: Champion vs Pro, raising money for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and finished second alongside her teammate Kamelion Wimbley. Her athletic build and naturally curly hair round out her public image, which she shares with a substantial Instagram following of 534k fans.
