About Lilly Christine
A sultry 5'6" athletic build with a 37–22–35 figure and a wild mane of blonde hair, Lilly Christine was a legendary burlesque dancer and glamour model. Known as "The Cat Girl," she captivated audiences from 1948 into the early 1960s with her mesmerizing stage presence. Born Martha Theresa Pompender on December 17, 1923, in Dunkirk, New York, she was of Italian-Polish descent, despite rumors of Norwegian and Swedish parents. Her American nationality and Caucasian ethnicity were part of her classic pin-up appeal.
Christine made her mark as a headliner, performing her trademark voodoo love potion dance at Prima's 500 Club in New Orleans. She also showcased her signature stalking cat dance in the Broadway revue "Michael Todd's Peep Show," which ran from June 28, 1950, to February 24, 1951, at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. Her glamour work appeared in publications like Rogue, He, Modern Man, Gala, Tempo, and Cover Girls. She also had uncredited roles in films such as Two Guys from Texas, My Wild Irish Rose, Two Guys from Milwaukee, and Irish Eyes Are Smiling. She continued to perform and draw crowds in southern nightclubs until her death from peritonitis at age 41 on January 9, 1965, in Broward County, Florida. Her straight sexuality and athletic frame made her a standout in her era.
