Leila Barros

Leila Gomes de Barros was born on 30 September 1971 in Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil. As a former volleyball player, she often played as opposite hitter and attacker, and she was a key member of the Brazilian squad that dominated the late 1990s and early 2000s. She helped Brazil win the FIVB World Grand Prix in 1996 and 1998, and she was named Most Valuable Player in both tournaments.

After retiring from sports in 2005, Leila transitioned into politics. She is a Brazilian politician and identifies as Latina. Standing 5'10" tall, she has a commanding presence.
