Biography
About Lari Laine
At 5'9" tall with blue eyes and blonde hair, Lari Laine was a slim 38–21–34 in her heyday, a real/natural 34D. Born April 13, 1937 in Brentwood, California, she is a third-generation Californian. She majored in journalism at the University of California at Berkeley but got sidetracked when she became first runner-up to Miss USA. After that, she became a model, 'a sort of early Cheryl Tiegs,' she says.
Lari appeared on 29 national magazine covers before deciding to pose for Playboy. The magazine had chased her for three years, and finally photographer Ron Vogel persuaded her. He cried on her shoulder, saying it could be her big break. She quit modeling after that first Playboy shoot, figuring she had reached the top. Her real name was Corinne, but because her father was running for Congress at the time, she used a pseudonym. Her mother, a former Ziegfeld showgirl, was supportive, and the pictures were tasteful enough that her father showed them off at the country club where the shoot took place.
Playboy brought showbiz offers, including 'Ozzie and Harriet' and 'Playhouse 90.' She bought a Thunderbird with the money. She has been married three times: once widowed, once divorced, and now married to director George Sidney. She has one son, Ben, who at 11 was angry about her Playboy past until she showed him the photo; he then noted that billboard models wear less. In recent years, she has been a society columnist, a candidate for the Beverly Hills city council, and president of the Hollywood Women's Press Club. She calls her Playmate work an art form. 'I don't know if I'd do Playboy now,' she says, 'but I'd march for the right to do it.' She was Playmate of the Month for May 1958.
