Biography
About Kerly Ruiz
Venezuelan actress and presenter Kerly Ruiz has built a career spanning television, pageants, and digital media. Born in Caracas on October 6, 1985, she grew up in Quinta Crespo and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Humanities from Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria School. Her early years included dance, music, and modeling training, and at age seven she joined the children's program Hay Que Oír a Los Ninos on RCTV, hosted by Nelson Bustamante.
Ruiz's pageant career began when she represented Venezuela in the Miss Maja Internacional competition in Cartagena, Colombia, and in Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2006 in Las Vegas, where she placed second runner-up. She moved to Los Angeles around that time, studied English, and became the image of the Lakers basketball team. She also made special appearances in telenovelas like Negra Consentida, Trapos Íntimos, Juana La Virgen, and Mi Gorda Bella. Her big break came as an entertainer for Ají Picante on RCTV, where she worked as a sexy reporter covering Venezuelan rumbas.
In 2007, Televen hired her as host of Rompe Coco Turbo, then as anchor of the entertainment segment "Lo actual" on El noticiero. By 2008 she was hosting La Bomba, a program that generated controversy and attention until her departure in 2011. She joined Venevisión in 2012 for the segment "Tácata" on Portada's and landed a supporting role in the soap opera Mi ex me tiene gusto, playing Kristell Manzano. She also made cameos in Natalia del Mar. After a year, she became an official presenter on Portada's, hosting broadcasts of events like Miss World, Premios Juventud, Grammy awards, and Lo Nuestro Awards. She has presented the official press presentation for Miss Venezuela since 2013, Miss Venezuela World since 2014, and Mister Venezuela since 2014. On Portada's, she also played the character "Suma Tramoyera" in the section "El Calabozo," discussing celebrity scandals with Senilda and other journalists.
In February 2018, Ruiz resigned from Venevisión and moved to the United States to host Simply Kerly on the digital channel FeedLatino in Miami. She later joined El Venezolano TV as presenter of Chic Al Día, and in 2021 she was hired by Telemundo as a new presenter. She is also active on social media, with millions of followers across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. She has an athletic build, brown hair and eyes, and stands 5'6".
