Biography
About Kelly Stables
Kelly Stables is an American actress known for her roles in television, film, and stage. She is perhaps best recognized as Melissa on the hit CBS comedy Two and a Half Men, a role that brought her widespread visibility. Born on January 26, 1978, in St. Louis, Missouri, Kelly traces her love of performance back to childhood, when she would create hand-made puppets from brown paper lunch bags and stage driveway shows for her neighbors, singing along to an Annie record in her nightgown.
Her teenage years were spent working at the Scoop-dee-doo Ice Cream shop and attending Lafayette High School, where she was voted "Most School Spirit" and Prom Queen. She was active in cheerleading, Jazz-ma-tazz show choir, and theater. Her first professional acting job came when she was cast in the teen chorus of Godspell at The Muny Opera. She then went on to graduate cum laude from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a bachelor's degree in Communication and a minor in Theatre Performance.
In March 2000, Kelly decided to move to Los Angeles, arriving with little more than determination and a set of purple blow-up furniture her sister had given her. She soon became involved with Theatre West, though her early days in the city were marked by frequent tearful calls home, as she often got lost trying to navigate her new surroundings. Her big break came when she met legendary make-up artist Rick Baker, who helped her land the role of Evil Samara in The Ring Two. For each day of shooting that horror sequel, it took five and a half hours to apply her prosthetic make-up. She continued in the genre with the British thriller Telling Lies, starring alongside Jason Flemyng and Mel B, and appeared in independent films like Together Again for the First Time, Pride & Prejudice, and Furnace.
Standing at 4'12" with blonde hair and brown eyes, Kelly has built a diverse career since her start in 2002, demonstrating her range from comedy to horror. She remains a recognizable figure in television and independent cinema, with a body of work that spans over two decades.
