Kayla Birungi

With her slim frame, black hair, and brown eyes, Kayla Birungi had a natural presence that suited her work as a model and blogger. Born in 2000, she was Ugandan and Black, and she started her career in 2019 at around 19 years old. For two years, she built a modest following of 8,000 on Instagram, sharing her life and style.

In search of exposure and modeling jobs, Kayla traveled to Dubai in 2021. There, she was recruited to participate in secret Porta Potty parties. The experiences from those events led her to take her own life by jumping from a window in the building where she was staying. Her death raised alarm about such abuses, a concern that grew after the similar death of her compatriot Monic_Karungi the following year, and later with the violent assault on the Ukrainian Maria_Kovalchuk in 2025. Her story remains a tragic reminder of the dangers she faced.
