About Karla Borger
Karla Borger won a silver medal at the 2013 World Championships alongside her teammate Britta Büthe. She was born on 22 November 1988 in Heppenheim, Germany. That silver medal marked a career highlight, but it was far from her only achievement. In 2014, she and Büthe won the German Championship. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the duo competed in women's beach volleyball. They reached the round of 16, where they were defeated. After Büthe quit professional beach volleyball in 2016, Borger teamed up with Margareta Kozuch until 2018.
When Kozuch decided to play with Laura Ludwig, Borger formed a new partnership with Julia Sude. That collaboration paid off immediately: they won the German Championship in 2019. The team also qualified for the beach volleyball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Borger is the daughter of Cordula Pütter, who was the European Beach Volleyball Champion in 1995. That family connection to the sport runs deep, and Borger has carried that legacy forward in her own career.
Off the sand, Borger keeps things practical. She uses bikinis and training products made by Adidas. At 37 years old, she remains active in the sport, having started her professional journey around 2008. She stands 5'11" and maintains an athletic build. Her German nationality is a constant thread through her career, representing her country at the highest levels of beach volleyball.
