Smith began writing songs at age 11, and a friend's YouTube cover led to discovery by producer Guy Moot. After signing with Sony/ATV in 2016, she released two EPs. Her debut album Lost & Found (2018) peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart. In 2018 she won the Brit Critics' Choice Award, and in 2019 she was named Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards. She also earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Her third EP, Be Right Back, came out in 2021. She has an average build.
