Biography
About Jewel Shephard
Jewel Shephard once landed in genuine pig excrement on the set of Party Camp. It was not what she'd dreamed of as a child in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where she'd hoped to become a grade "A" movie star. Instead, she built a career in dozens of grade "B" (or lower) films, the kind that air on late-night TV for die-hard fans or insomniacs. Roger Corman sent her to the Philippines for Caged Heat 2, a shoot the casting director promised would be "a vacation in paradise." She was flogged, beaten by warrior women in orange, and devoured by bugs the size of Buicks.
So Jewel turned to writing. She was 68 years old, American, and tired of being typecast. She polled her fellow B-Movie Queens, interviewing stars past and present, to create Invasion of the B-Girls. That book answered the musical question: why would anyone appear in a film called Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama? It sold like crazy, still sells, and even got purchased by Dick Clark as the basis for a not-yet-filmed "A" movie. It led to her second book, the autobiography If I'm So Famous, How Come Nobody's Ever Heard of Me?, and brought offers to write for magazines like Premiere, Cosmopolitan, and Details.
She measures 34–24–34 with a slim build, stands 5'7", and has real, natural 34C breasts. She's also an adult model, a profession that adds to her varied public persona. Her writing career even produced a surreal scene at the American Booksellers Association, where she autographed copies seated between Ross Perot and Senator Paul Simon, both of whom wanted pictures with her. She also opened a fan letter very carefully, from Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. Jewel stays busy, but she remains a Brooklyn girl at heart.
