About Jessica Drake
Jessica Drake is an American activist, former adult film star, director, producer, and sex educator. Born Angel Ryan on October 14, 1974, in San Antonio, Texas, she left the University of Texas-El Paso before graduating, where she had majored in psychology, to pursue a career in adult entertainment. She first worked as an exotic dancer in El Paso strip clubs, earning nearly $2,000 a day across Texas, which justified her decision to drop out. Inspired by watching porn stars perform at her club, she debuted in 1999 at age 25, posing for magazines and appearing on Playboy TV before shooting her first film, Pussyman's Decadent Divas 2.
Using the stage name Jessica Drake, stylized in lowercase, she appeared in over 553 films, including Shayla's Web (2001), Fluff and Fold (2005), Manhunters (2007), and Fallen (2009), for which she won multiple AVN and XRCO acting awards. She was a contract performer for Sin City from 2000 to 2002 before signing an exclusive contract with Wicked Pictures in April 2003. Her career includes directing 17 films, writing screenplays like Dating 101 and Just Between Us, and producing the sex education series Jessica Drake's Guide to Wicked Sex, which launched in 2011. The series won AVN awards for educational releases, and in 2015 she received a Feminist Porn Award for Smutty School Teacher. She also hosted a weekly Playboy Radio segment, IN BED with jessica drake, and conducts global sex education seminars, speaking at UCLA, the University of Chicago's Sex Week, and CatalystCon West.
Drake has been inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame (2010) and XRCO Hall of Fame (2011), and has won 23 industry awards, including AVN Mainstream Star of the Year in 2016. In 2016, she opened an online store for adult videos and paraphernalia. Her advocacy includes the Sexclusion initiative, promoting sexual well-being and consent culture. She has appeared in mainstream media, including The Tyra Banks Show and Lady Gaga's "Telephone" music video. In 2016, she accused then-presidential candidate Donald Trump of non-consensual advances, a claim that drew significant attention. She married actor Evan Stone in 2002, divorcing in 2004, and lived with Wicked director Brad Armstrong for over a decade until their 2021 separation. She is affiliated with a charity building homes in Cambodia, Kenya, and Tanzania, and founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2012. As of 2025, she remains active in sex education and maintains a strong online presence. Her 2009 performance in Fallen was called a career-defining moment, and she is often praised as a trailblazer in the industry.
