Standing 5'10", Jennifer Brady cuts an imposing figure on the tennis court. Born on April 12, 1995, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the American athlete has been a professional since 2014, the year she turned pro after two years at UCLA. Her breakthrough came at the 2017 Australian Open, where she reached the fourth round as a qualifier, beating Heather Watson and 14th seed Elena Vesnina. That same year, she matched the feat at the US Open, defeating Barbora Strýcová and Monica Niculescu before falling to then-world No. 1 Karolína Plíšková.
Brady's career reached new heights in 2020. She defeated Maria Sharapova and recorded her first victory over a world No. 1 by beating Ashleigh Barty at Brisbane. She then progressed to her first Grand Slam semifinal at the 2020 US Open, with a win over former world No. 1 Angelique Kerber en route. This strong hardcourt swing lifted her career-high singles ranking to No. 24, and she later peaked at world No. 13 in February 2021. A year later, she reached her first major final at the 2021 Australian Open, where she lost to Naomi Osaka.
In doubles, Brady also found success. She reached a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 44 in August 2019 and made a semifinal appearance at the 2019 Australian Open. Before turning professional, she helped UCLA win the 2014 Division 1 Women's Tennis National Championship. She turned pro after her sophomore year.
