Biography
About Jennette McCurdy
Jennette McCurdy was born on Friday 26th of June 1992 in Long Beach, California, and grew up in Garden Grove. She is American, of Caucasian ethnicity, and stands 5'2" with a slim build. As a child, she was homeschooled by her mother, Debra, and began acting at age eight on the sketch show Mad TV. Her early career included guest roles on many series, including CSI, Malcolm in the Middle, and Will & Grace, before she landed the part of Sam Puckett on Nickelodeon's iCarly in 2007. That role made her a household name and led to the spin-off Sam & Cat with Ariana Grande. She also pursued country music, releasing the EP Not That Far Away in 2010 and a self-titled album in 2012, though she later called that chapter a much-regretted blip. In 2014, she left Nickelodeon, citing an uncomfortable and unfair situation, and the network canceled Sam & Cat after one season.
Jennette's memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died, published in August 2022, became a number one New York Times bestseller. In it, she detailed the emotional and sexual abuse she endured from her mother, who pushed her into acting and contributed to her eating disorders. Jennette has been open about struggling with anorexia and bulimia from age 11, and she considers herself fully recovered as of 2022. She is also a recovering alcoholic, having started drinking heavily before her mother's death in 2013. After retiring from acting in 2017, she shifted to writing and directing, creating several short films, including Kenny and Strong Independent Women, the latter dealing with eating disorders. She also hosts podcasts, including Empty Inside and Hard Feelings. She is a writer for The Wall Street Journal and has contributed to Seventeen and Huffington Post. Jennette is 34 years old, has blonde hair and blue eyes, and is active on Instagram, where she has a large following. Her measurements are 35–26–34, with a 32C bra cup, and her breasts are natural. She has ear piercings and identifies as straight.
