Biography
About Jean Seberg
A petite blonde with blue eyes and a slim figure, Jean Seberg stood 5'3" and was known for her natural 28A bust. Born in Marshalltown, Iowa, she came from a family with Swedish, English, and German roots. Her father was a pharmacist and her mother a substitute teacher.
One month before turning 18, Jean won a much-publicized contest of some 18,000 hopefuls for the title role in Otto Preminger's Saint Joan (1957). Though that film and Bonjour Tristesse (1958) only had moderate success, her role in Godard's Breathless (1960) brought her renewed international attention. She later gave a memorable performance as a schizophrenic in Lilith (1964) opposite Warren Beatty, and appeared in over 30 films across Hollywood and Europe.
In the late 1960s, she became involved in anti-war politics, which led to an FBI disinformation campaign against her due to her association with Black Panther party members. She died from a barbiturate overdose in Paris in 1979, aged 40.
