Janet Lupo

Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1950, Janet Paula Lupo grew up in an Italian-American family. Her path to fame began in April 1974 when she became a Playboy Bunny at the Great Gorge Playboy Club in McAfee, New Jersey. Working there, she caught the attention of several photographers who encouraged her to pose for Playboy. She initially turned them down, but in March 1975, legendary photographer Pompeo Posar approached her again. This time she agreed, and she became the Playmate of the Month for November 1975. Her pictorial showcased her natural beauty, and her family had mixed feelings about her decision, but Janet embraced the opportunity.

Following her Playmate feature, Janet traveled extensively across the United States, Canada, and Japan for promotions. In Japan, she was introduced as the "bustiest Playmate" in the photo book Playmates 312. She also appeared in Playboy Italy and Playboy Japan editions. After her initial fame, she stepped back from modeling and worked as a bartender. In 1977, she moved to Key Biscayne, Florida, and became a flight attendant, but harassment from colleagues after they learned of her Playboy past led to her firing. The airline later went out of business. In 1981, she returned to New Jersey and earned a real estate license, adding cosmetology to her skills by the early 1990s.

Janet's later years included comebacks. She posed for a Playmate reunion pictorial in 1984, created her own website in 1999 at age 49, and resumed nude modeling. She also attended Glamourcon conventions in Los Angeles and Chicago. She gave birth to a son on August 20, 1986, and remained devoted to her family. Janet Lupo passed away on November 13, 2017, in Jersey City, New Jersey, at age 67. She is remembered as one of the most naturally beautiful and charismatic Playmates in Playboy history, with a devoted fanbase that appreciated her timeless appeal.
