Biography
About Jane Seymour
With her slim 5'6" frame, long brown hair, and green eyes, Jane Seymour has been a familiar face on screens since 1969. Born as Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg in Uxbridge, Middlesex, United Kingdom, the British actress changed her name to something easier for audiences to remember, taking the name of one of King Henry VIII's wives. Her early television work caught the eye of the James Bond producers, leading to her breakout role as Solitaire in Live and Let Die (1973).
After that international recognition, she moved to the U.S., where a casting director advised her to trade her English accent for an American one. The strategy worked, earning her five Emmy nominations and a win for playing Maria Callas in Onassis: The Richest Man in the World (1988). She won Golden Globe Awards for both East of Eden (1981) and the series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993), where she played the title role for five years. She has also appeared in feature films like Somewhere in Time (1980) and Wedding Crashers (2005).
Beyond acting, she has worked as a fashion designer and producer. She has been married four times and has four children and two stepchildren, making her a grandmother. As of late, she has continued acting in television movies and making guest appearances. With a career spanning over five decades, she remains active in the entertainment industry.
