Jan Smithers

Jan Smithers is a former American actress with a career spanning 14 years, from 1973 to 1987. She was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up as one of four girls in Woodland Hills. Her father was an attorney. While studying art at Taft High School, she swerved her car to avoid another driver and hit a telephone pole, leaving a permanent scar on her chin. A couple of years later, she was interviewed by a Newsweek reporter for a story on typical American teenagers and photographed riding on the back of a motorcycle. That shot made the cover of the March 21, 1966 issue, leading to commercial work while she continued her art studies at California Institute of the Arts.

Smithers won the role of Bailey Quarters in the CBS sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati in 1978. After the show ended, she worked on occasion and married actor James Brolin in 1987, becoming stepmother to his two sons and having a daughter with him. The marriage ended in 1995. At 77 years old, she maintains a slim build with brown hair and blue eyes. She stands 5'7" tall and weighs 121 lbs. Her striking appearance, marked by a chin scar from her youth, remains a part of her story. She was a working actress for over a decade, leaving a mark on television history.
