Iryna Zarutska

She had a slim figure and measured 5'9", with blonde hair and brown eyes, though her hair was often the first thing people noticed. This Ukrainian-born influencer, originally from Kyiv, embodied a creative spirit that defined her brief life. Born in May 2002, Iryna was the daughter of Anna Zarutska and Stanislav Zarutskyi. She studied Art and Restoration at Synergy College in Kyiv, where she honed her skills in sculpting and designing unique clothing. Her creativity extended to gifting her artwork to family and friends, and she often found joy in caring for neighbors' pets.

In August 2022, Iryna emigrated from Ukraine with her mother, sister, and brother, fleeing the war and embracing a new life in the United States. She quickly became fluent in English, reflecting her determination and love of learning. She dreamed of becoming a Veterinary Assistant and was learning to drive to gain independence. Her warmth and radiant smile made her memorable in her community, where she was often seen walking pets through the neighborhood.

Tragically, Iryna's life was cut short in August 2025 when she was fatally stabbed on a subway in North Carolina. The assailant, Decarlos Brown Jr., was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She was only 23 years old.

Her brief life was marked by artistry, resilience, and an enduring love for animals that touched those around her.
