About Hedy Chan
Hedy Chan holds a Master of Performance degree from the Royal College of Music in London and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She studied under renowned soprano Nancy Yuen and mezzo-soprano Sally Burgess. At 13, she attained Distinction for both ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Vocal Singing. A year later, she won first prize in the 11th Asia Pacific Piano Competition (intermediate class). Over the years, she has clinched First Place more than 10 times at the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, earning both the Barbara Fei Open Class Vocal and Barbara Fei Female Voice Scholarships. In 2021, she received The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund 2021-22 Full Scholarship.
Her first operatic role was the title role in Puccini's Suor Angelica. She has also performed in the Renée Fleming Masterclass and worked with musicians such as Eduardo Chama, Nelly Miricioiu, Michael Chance, and Joy Mammen. In 2021, she was invited to join the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. In 2024, she served as a judge on the Hong Kong TVB program The Voice.
